23.05.2016 - VII NACEE Congress and International Scientific and Practical Conference

On May 8-20, 2016, leading aquaculture specialists and scientists from Hungary, Italy, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Moldova, the Republic of Belarus and Ukraine visited Kherson and took part in the 7th Congress of the Network of Aquaculture Centers of Central and Eastern Europe (NACEE) and the International Scientific and Practical Conference.

NACEE is a non-governmental organization that unites 34 members from 10 countries. Ukraine is represented by the Institute of Fisheries of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Kherson State Agrarian University, the Dnieper Sturgeon Fish Breeding Plant named after Academician S.T. Artyushchik, the Novaya Kakhovka Fish Hatchery of Lastikovykh Fish, the Kherson Regional Public Organization "Revival of the Dnieper", and RF-YUVENT LLC, which organized the events.
On the first day of the meeting, May 18, the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Sturgeon Aquaculture: Current Trends and Prospects" was held. The conference brought together leading islands not only from Europe, but also from Ukraine (Kyiv, Lviv, Chernivtsi, Nikolaev, Odessa, Kherson, Dnepropetrovsk, Berdyansk).

On May 19, the 7th NACEE Congress was held, organizational and administrative issues, budget issues, membership, work programs for 2016 were considered, projects in which NACEE participates were presented. This year, the NACEE family was replenished with five new members, two of which are representatives of Ukrainian business. Traditionally, as part of the events, NACEE members got acquainted with aquaculture enterprises of Ukraine. Also, during the meetings, cooperation agreements were signed between educational and research institutions of Ukraine, the Republic of Belarus and Latvia. The decisions and proposals made by the next NACEE congress and conference, in which a representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Chairman of the International Sturgeon Conservation Center participated, will allow all interested parties to continue participating in European programs, will facilitate the exchange of information on modern technologies, and will mark the beginning of new international relations in the field of aquaculture.
